Paddy Tinsley

 

Paddy Tinsley aus Newbridge im County Kildare wurde im Jahr 1956 geboren. Seine musikalische Karriere begann in den Siebzigern, als er mit den Folk-Gruppen „Eistling“ und „The Shades of Green“ spielte. Im Jahr 1979 zog er als Straßenmusikant durch ganz Irland. Ende 1979 ging er nach Holland. Seither ist er durch Belgien, Luxemburg, Frankreich, Österreich, Slowenien und die Schweiz gereist und hat dort auf der Straße und in Pubs und Folk-Clubs gespielt. 1989 nahm er in Antwerpen eine Audiokassette mit seinen frühen Songs auf, produziert von Robin Rowley. Im Jahr 1994 – bereits in Freiburg, wo er heute mit seiner deutschen Ehefrau Doris lebt – nahm er, zusammen mit Ruairi Swanton auf der Mandoline, ein weiteres Band mit einem Mix aus eigenen Liedern und irischen Balladen auf (produziert von Shane Brady). 1998 bildete er mit Brian O’Leary das Folk-Duo „Liffey“. „Liffey“ nahm eine CD auf (produziert von Shane Brady). Paddys letzte CD, wiederum von Shane Brady bei Ivy Court Records produziert, ist eine Sammlung seiner eigenen Lieder, inspiriert vom wahren Lebensgefühl auf der Straße. Diese CD enthält u. a. den Song Paddy „Bones“ Sweeney, den er als Tribut an seinen alten Freund schrieb.  Derzeit ist Paddy Teil der irisch-europäischen Folk-Gruppe „Ahrun“ und eines Irish-Folk-Duos zusammen mit der talentierten deutschen Geigerin Susanne Sievers, mit der er hoffentlich in naher Zukunft eine CD produzieren wird.

Paddy Tinsley from Newbridge Co. Kildare was born in 1956.His music career began in the mid seventies playing with the folk groups Eistling and the Shades of Green. In 1979 he hit the Buskers Trail travelling around Ireland. Near the end of ' 79 he went to Holland. Since then he has travelled Belgium, Luxemburg, France, Austria, Slovenia and Switzerland busking and playing gigs in pubs and folk clubs. In 1989 in Antwerp he recorded a cassette of his early songs produced by Robin Rowley. In 1994, in Freiburg where he is now settled with his German wife Doris he recorded another cassette a mixture of some of his own songs and Irish ballads together with Ruairi Swanton on mandolin (produced by Shane Brady). In 1998 he formed the folk duo '' Liffey'' together with Brian O' Leary. Liffey recorded one CD (produced by Shane Brady). His latest CD also produced by Shane Brady of Ivy Court Records is a collection of his own songs inspired by the real taste of life on the road which includes the song Paddy '' Bones'' Sweeney that he wrote as a tribute to his old friend. Paddy now plays with the Irish / European folk group Ahrun and also in an Irish folk duo with talented German fiddler Susanne Sievers and hopes to make a new CD with Susanne in the near future
